These works investigate the performative relationship between women and their environment, through correspondences with the spaces they encounter. They question the space of the home, which at once can provide comfort and consolation, but also feelings of constriction and entrapment. These women move about in the space, battling feminine compliance with traditional domestic roles. Hiding away from the physical environment, they suggest potential freedom as their feminist assertions see them escaping into psychical spaces, away from reality. At what point does a house become a home, how do women inhabit this space and when does a home fall apart and need rebuilding?
