PUBLIC PARTICIPANTS: Call Out...

As part of my re.conceive project I worked with a large number of public participants on a series of online tasks. The responses were overwhelming and incredibly moving.

CALL OUT FOR FEMALE PARTICIPANTS WITH EXPERIENCE OF INFERTILITY
FOR A FINE ART PRACTICE/RESEARCH PROJECT

“(re)conceive”, supported by Arts Council England, plans to investigate the 'Invisibility of Infertility within the Maternal Visual Arts' and focus my current practice on visualising this hidden condition. As someone who has suffered from Infertility personally, I now wish to professionally explore the transformational process of becoming a (M)Other and visually theorise a form of sub-maternal. I have begun some work on this, through my piece Infertile Platitudes of Embodied Emptiness (Sonogram Series of 9).

I am interested in hearing from women who would like to take part in some questions/tasks (via email) regarding infertile embodiment & identity, and its relationship to the social construction of reproductive bodies and normative motherhood. This is likely to involve collecting personal stories of your experience of infertility, as well as your response to a series of more free writing/visual tasks on certain prompts around the themes, sharing as much or as little as you want. You don’t need to be an artist or a writer to volunteer.

Your contribution will further research to challenge the cultural stigma and silence of infertility, helping make this condition visible within Art and beyond. I am interested in any type of infertility and any level of infertility/subfertility (including those who have gone on to have children). All responses treated as confidential.
